OGPlanet

El Segundo, Calif. - May 12, 2008 OGPlanet, an innovative provider of multiplayer online games, today announced the first-ever Invitational Tournament in Albatross18, its fantasy role-playing golf game.

This month, OGPlanet will begin accepting entries from Albatross18 guilds hoping to participate in the Invitational Tournament. Each guild must choose just one representative–the player they feel will have the best chance at bringing the guild top honors at the tournament.

Eighty-seven players will be selected to compete in the three-round tournament in June. Each of the three rounds will include 29 players and one referee. Once three players emerge victorious, they will face off against each other to determine the final Grand Champion.

The Grand Champion, as well as every member of his or her guild, will receive a Gold Event T-shirt designating them as the reigning Albatross18 champions, Event Face Paint, and a custom-designed Guild Phoenix featuring the guild’s logo. Second- and third-place finishers will receive Silver and Bronze T-shirts and Event Phoenixes. Every member of the 87 guilds involved with the competition will receive Joy Candies.

“We hope this summer’s Albatross18 Invitational Tournament will be the first of many successful tournaments,” said Don Choi, COO of OGPlanet. “We’re looking forward to finding out who the best Albatross18 golfer is!”

Diamond Bar, California - April 14, 2008 - Cal Ripken’s Real Baseball, a massively multiplayer online sports game (MMOSG) for baseball, announced today they would host a large tournament scheduled to begin on May 5, 2008, Cinco de Mayo. For more information, people can visit PlayRealBaseball.com and go to the “EVENTS” tab.

The Cinco de Mayo Invitational will be a single elimination tournament.

The registration period begins today and will be open until May 4, 2008. Players can earn their share of over $2,000 in prizes. Prizes include memberships to RotoWire.com and JRO High Performance Sunglasses from Elite Eyewear.

Each Tournament game will be six-innings and scheduled three-to-five days a week. Real Baseball seeds their tournament based on a first to register first seed basis. Players that have reached Level 10 with their character are eligible to participate in Real Baseball events and at that time, they are also allowed to join or create a team.

“We are excited to be hosting our first big tournament of the baseball season,” said Andy Wang, founder and CEO of Netamin Communication Corporation. “Cal Ripken’s Real Baseball brings video gaming and baseball to a whole new level. We hope players will continue enjoying the head to head competition not only with tournaments, but also all the other events we have to offer.”

Like baseball in real life, Real Baseball hosts different types of events throughout the year. These include tournaments, Homerun Derbies, and Rookie Challenges. Tournaments for Real Baseball are Level based tournaments and grouped into the following categories:
Minor, Major, All Star and MVP, are either single elimination or double elimination, and the bigger events sometime offer a prize.

Rookie Challenges are fun and educational, intended for new players, and are designed to get them ready for the big leagues and the tournaments.

Smash Tournament Trophy “Crap”

Did you guys see the picture of the trophy Game Stop is giving the winner of the Smash Tourney?

What the hell does this trophy have to do with Smash? This looks more like a wrestling trophy than a video game trophy. It looks like Gamestop suddenly got super cheap and tried to save some money.

In my humble opinion Gamestop should have shelled out a few more dollars and made a custom trophy of the character the winner used to win the tourney with. Now that would be a glorious trophy to proudly display. Buy hey thats just my opinion.
