Meet the Eaters - Week One

San Francisco, Calif. - May 16, 2008 - Note to Editors: In Mastiff’s upcoming WiiWare(tm) release, Major League Eating: The Game players control professional eaters in epic one-on-one gurgitory battles. For the next three weeks, we’ll be releasing information about the eaters featured in Major League Eating: The Game, including their real-life stats and accomplishments, as well as their unique strengths and vulnerabilities in the game.

Eater bios and art can be downloaded from the MMPR ftp site at http://www.mmpr.com/MMPRFTP, inside the Mastiff folder.

Crazy Legs Conti

New York, NY
Age: 36
Weight: 215 pounds

Crazy Legs has established himself as perhaps the most prominent entertainer/eater in Major League Eating. He is not afraid to make a spectacle of himself, once having eaten his way to freedom having been buried under 60 cubic feet of popcorn. In Major League Eating: The Game, Crazy Legs’ specialties include eating Sweet Corn and attacking his opponents with a burp that wreaks havoc on their vomit meters. He’s especially vulnerable to Rotten Food.

Records:
Sweet Corn: 34.75 ears in 12 minutes
Buffet: 5.5 lbs of food in 12 minutes
Lumberjack Breakfast: 3.5 lbs pancakes & bacon in 12 minutes
Green Beans: 2.71 lbs in 6 minutes

Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas

Alexandria, VA
Age: 40
Weight: 105

Like Joan of Arc before her, Sonya Thomas is slender of stature, but mighty in strength. Since her winning debut in June of 2003 at the Molly Pitcher Nathan’s qualifier in New Jersey, Sonya’s rise in the sport has been nothing less than meteoric. Other eaters watch Sonya, dumfounded, seemingly waiting for her to assume her rightful position of absolute and unchallenged dominance. In Major League Eating: The Game, Sonya shines when eating Meatballs, and terrorizes her enemies with Invincible. She’s at her weakest, however, when confronted with Mustard Gas.

Records:
Oysters: 46 Dozen in 10 minutes
Hard Boiled Eggs: 65 in 6 minutes, 40 seconds
Cheesecake: 11 lbs in 9 minutes
Meatballs: 10 lbs, 3 oz. In 12 minutes

Tim “Eater X” Janus

New York, NY
Age: 31
Weight: 165

Forced to wear a mask to conceal his inner torment, Eater X is currently the number four-ranked eater in the world. A professional stock trader by day, Eater X has shown up at contests in all sorts of disguises. He’s called himself the whaler, the invisible man, and also competed in a bikini. At the World Posole Eating Championship, Janus assumed the personality, and dress, of Helen Hagerty, a fictional field hockey player from Bryn Mawr College. In Major League Eating: The Game, Tim uses Antacid to his advantage, decreasing his chances of a “reversal of fortune” by lowering his vomit meter. Tim is weak against Invincible, but does his best eating when faced with Burritos.

Records:
Tamales: 71 in 10 minutes
Ramen Noodles: 10.5 lbs in 10 minutes
Cannoli: 26 in 6 minutes
Burritos: 11.81 lbs in 10 minutes

Joey “Jaws” Chestnut

San Jose, CA
Age: 23
Weight: 230

Merely two years after being named 2005 Rookie Of The Year, Joey defeated six-time champion Takeru Kobayashi in the 2007 Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest and is currently the number one ranked eater in the world. Chestnut has become known for his simple, levelheaded approach to the sport. Blessed with strong esophageal muscles and extremely capacious cheeks, Chestnut is widely considered the best chipmunker on the circuit. Using to his full advantage IFOCE rules that allow food placed in the mouth before time is called to be swallowed ‘in a timely fashion’ after the buzzer, Joey stuffs his cheeks in the last few seconds until they look like Dizzy Gillespie’s mid-solo, hence: chipmunk. In Major League Eating: The Game, Joey has a special talent for eating Hot Dogs, and is strong when dealing with Rotten Food. Unfortunately, a Burp can bring him to his knees.

Records:
Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs: 66 in 12 minutes
Krystal Burgers: 103 in 8 minutes
Grilled Cheese: 47 in 10 minutes
Pulled Pork: 9 lbs, 6 oz. in 10 minutes

About Major League Eating: The Game

Major League Eating: The Game for WiiWare(tm) features the world’s greatest gurgitory athletes competing across a variety of foods and venues. Built much like a classic fighting game and deeper than a Chicago style deep-dish pizza, MLE: The Game requires players to master a smorgasbord of offensive and defensive weapons including bites, burps, belches, mustard gas and jalapeño flames while cramming and chewing food at a world-class pace. It’s not for the faint of heart, the slow of reflex, or those with an overly strong aversion to a Technicolor reversal of fortune.

Major League Eating: The Game uses the Wii Remote to simulate a variety of eating techniques including the cram, toss, and ‘typewriter.’ Burp-offs and Hot Potato challenges during the contests keep the competition intense and eaters on their toes.

Major League Eating: The Game is for one or two players, offers online play and a leader board.

Major League Eating, the professional league which oversees all top eating events in the nation, including the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest, counts among its members Takeru Kobayashi, the Japanese eating phenomenon, and American Joey Chestnut, current champion of the world.

Win Gift Certificates for Burgers, Hotdogs, Pizza and More at the Major League Eating: The Game Website

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - April 7, 2008 Video game publisher Mastiff announced today its plan to feed the video gaming world - or at least a small part of it. Mastiff will honor each of the 12 foods found in its upcoming WiiWare exclusive release, Major League Eating: The Game with a weekly drawing. Each week, Mastiff will select a ‘food of the week’ and hold a drawing for gift certificates for that event, uh, ‘food.’ Anyone can enter - even if you don’t own a Wii. Starting April 7, 2008, gamers can head to www.MLEGAME.com to register and (hopefully) win. Even better, Mastiff promised not to force feed you your prize if you do win.
“Professional gurgitory athletics is more than a hobby, more than a sport, more than a way of life. It’s an encapsulation of mankind’s history and struggle. Every drop of saliva, every bite, every postural tilt of the epiglottis and relaxation of the esophageal sphincter symbolizes the tension between mankind’s base nature and the yoke of civilization. While my money is on base nature over civilization, offering free food seemed a civilized thing to do and a great way to hedge my bets” says Bill Swartz, Head Woof at Mastiff.

Moon Announced for Nintendo DS

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - March 14, 2008 - Mastiff, a worldwide publisher of videogames and Renegade Kid, developer of innovative interactive software, today announced the title codenamed “Project M” has been officially named Moon after the cold and barren hunk of rock orbiting earth.

Developed by Renegade Kid, Moon is a sci-fi, action-adventure title for Nintendo DS™. Moon places gamers on the cold lunar surface in the year 2058. Researchers are shocked to find a sealed, alien hatch during construction of a new lunar base, but it’s a shock that soon pales in comparison to what they find beyond the hatch.

Moon is dark, twisted, heart pounding, frequently violent and always disturbing. Pretty much what you’d expect when you take madmen like Renegade Kid, jack their technology up to the next level, and turn them loose,” said Bill Swartz, Head Woof of Mastiff.

Moon demonstrates the impressive power of NIntendo DS, while appealing to a crowd that’s looking for a first-person action-adventure title that delivers a menacing story and really puts your gaming skills to the test,” said Jools Watsham, Owner and Creative Director at Renegade Kid. “Building upon our achievements with Dementium: The Ward, Renegade Kid is utilizing its sophisticated 3D engine, dubbed the ‘Renegade Engine,’ to continue pushing the limits of Nintendo DS and focus on producing high quality content.”
